Maryellen Balfour is the Science Teacher and Special Ed Coordinator at Northshore Recovery High School located in Beverly, Massachusetts. She is licensed as a Science Teacher, Special Education Teacher, and Yoga Instructor. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, a Master’s of Education in Moderate special needs from Fitchburg State University and a certificate in teaching Traumatized Students from Lesley University. Maryellen has been working in education for over 30 years as a Science Teacher, Special Ed Teacher and Tutor in public schools, as well as at The Carroll School in Lincoln (a special education school for students with dyslexia and other learning challenges). Maryellen believes all students should have access to a strong foundation of education as well as a safe, positive educational/school experience.

Maryellen lives with her husband, two adult children, two dogs and two cats. She enjoys cooking, entertaining, walking, hiking, road trips, and relaxing by the pool.
