Art Teacher

Mary Devin

Devin has been the art teacher at Northshore Recovery High School since 2006, bringing her mix of creativity and support to students in recovery. With a professional background in graphic design and a lifetime of artistic experience, Devin’s classroom radiates energy, laughter, and encouragement. Her students blossom under her guidance, discovering new confidence in their creative talents. Embracing every medium, Devin inspires them to use art as a means of self-exploration, healing, and recovery.
As a CCAR recovery coach, Devin is aware of the complex issues her students experience, and her passion for art and wellness creates a nurturing space where students can express themselves freely. For the past fifteen years, Devin and her students have performed with Express Yourself, an acclaimed arts immersion program backed by the Department of Mental Health. She was featured in MTV’s 16 and Recovering, a documentary that showcased the struggles and triumphs of the students at NSRHS.
Most importantly, Devin’s dog Franklin is the official NSRHS facility support dog. He excels at snuggling and convincing the students to cater to his every need, but manages to always put a smile on everyone’s face.
